Hokuto Black King (北斗ブラックキング?), the Universe -1 Black King, is a modified version of Black King created by KoopaGalaxain.
Appearance[]
Hokuto Black King resembles any other Black King, save for his piercing blue eyes and Hokuto asterism on his chest. Hokuto Black King also exudes bluish-white smoke from his jaws.
History[]
Universe -1[]
As part of Aetherium's plan to clear the way for G-Rex's awakening, the living galaxy allied with and recruited evil alien races. One of these races that Aetherium allied with were the Nackle. After receiving a single Black King from the planet, Aetherium modified it into Hokuto Black King, and sent it to Earth to wreak havoc.
Hokuto Black King destroyed city after city, killing humans in their millions. It seemed as if there was nothing that could stop him, until suddenly something unexpected happened; From the sky, a huge crack formed, and a red figure emerged, watching the evil kaiju's rampage. Yapool had appeared, and he decided that he wouldn't have his own plan to conquer Earth be defeated by Aetherium's schemes.
Summoning Verokron, Yapool quickly mounted a counter attack. While strong, Hokuto Black King was no match for the Choju's superior abilities, and was soon destroyed by waves of endless missiles from Verokron's hands and back spines. Aetherium had lost this time.
Council of Creators[]
Reborn after his death at the hands of Yapool, Hokuto Black King was sent to Universe 1, where he became the new bartender for the Council of Creators in Episode 22, after proving his worth and making Koopa, Scoobs, Nerd and Cdr cocktails that they really liked. However, Hokuto Black King had ulterior motives and was initially attempting to lead them down the route to chaos, to support Aetherium's plan to subjugate Earth, eventually abducting Scoobs to a pocket dimension to prevent him from interfering with Aetherium's plans.
However, following his efforts in stopping Organon from decimating the planet with his pathogens, Hokuto Black King realised that he could make his own choices, and from that point onward chose to side with the Creators, becoming a double agent against his apparent master.
Hokuto Black King eventually made his plans to rebel against Aetherium obvious, setting Scoobs free and informing them of Aetherium's intent to attack the Earth, now that the latter was aware of Hokuto Black King's defection. In the ensuing fight against the galactic sword, Hokuto Black King proved pivotal in turning the battle in The Creators' favour, as he transformed into his Stellar Resplendence form to communicate with G-Rex, who brought the crisis to an end by bringing Aetherium to heel.
With the battle over, Hokuto Black King announced his resignation and departed on good terms with his new comrades. Hokuto Black King would go on to be succeeded by Ultraman Ross as the group's bartender.
Council of Creators: Side Stories[]
Torrents and Andromedans[]
Hokuto Black King made his first appearance since the end of Season 2 of Council of Creators in Torrents and Andromedans, the second part of the Andromedan Arc.
After escaping his pursuer, the Alien Torrent Envoy Machiavelli encountered Hokuto Black King, who recognised that the alien needed the help of the Creators. He then accompanied Machiavelli, Koopa and BRK to the Overseer's hideout, meeting Alien Geometros Ganymede along the way. Together with the others, Hokuto Black King took part in the battle against Fake Sepsis, who had been enslaved by the Andromedans.

Abilities[]
Standard[]
- Armoured Skin: As with the standard Black King, Hokuto Black King's skin is impervious to almost any physical assault, and also resists beams with a remarkable degree of strength.
- Hokuto Magma (北斗のマグマ Hokuto no Maguma?): A stronger version of Black King's Hell Magma Beam. Capable of vaporising large areas of rock in a matter of seconds, this beam is also able to cause brutal injuries to those it hits.
- Psychoactive Smoke (精神活性の煙 Seishin Kassei no Kemuri?): The smoke constantly being breathed out by Hokuto Black King contains numerous chemicals, in particular several that have dramatic effects on the mental state of those who continually breathe them in for a long enough amount of time.
- Immunity Smoke (免疫の煙 Men'eki no Kemuri?): In addition to his standard blue Psychoactive Smoke, Hokuto Black King is able to breathe out a green smoke, capable of neutralising any disease and giving those who breathe it in immunity to a wide variety of conditions, including Organon's Ischemic Putrefaction disease.
- Deep Space Secret Technique: Rising Burst of the Eight Great Hells! (深宇宙奥義・八大地獄のライジングバースト！ Shin'uchū Ōgi: Hachidaijigoku no Raijingu Bāsuto!?): A new and powerful attack first displayed by Hokuto Black King during the Creators and his battle against Organon. Hokuto Black King can fire an incredibly hot and powerful jet of blue-white fire from his jaws, capable of dealing serious damage to opponents. The extreme heat given off by the flames had the capability to neutralise the pathogens used by Organon for his Ischemic Putrefaction disease and XZ-Class Global Pandemic as well.
- Absolution Outburst: Used exclusively in the Season 2 finale of Council of Creators. By focusing every inch of his power, Hokuto Black King becomes redeemed, and gains access to a new and extremely powerful form, Galactic Nexus.
Galactic Nexus[]
- Luminous Blaster (ルミナスブラスター Ruminasu Burasutā?): By raising his right arm vertically upward, Hokuto Black King can unleash an incredibly bright and hot beam of stellar plasma from the concentrated mass of stars around his neck.
- Cosmic Ray Regeneration (宇宙線再生 Uchū-sen Saisei?): By harnessing cosmic rays from space and channelling them through his horn, Hokuto Black King can recover his energy or direct the energy gathered into an ally of his choice to help them recover instead.
- Polaris Force (北極星の力 Hokkyokusei no Chikara?): Using the mass of stars around his neck, Hokuto Black King can emit a blinding pulse of light capable of disorienting opponents.
- Resplendent Evolution (輝ける進化 Kagayakeru Shinka?): By gathering as much cosmic rays as he can, Hokuto Black King can transform even further into his Stellar Resplendence form.
- Deep Space Secret Technique: Magnificent Shining Star Barrage (深宇宙奥義・壮大な輝く星の弾幕 Shin'uchū Ōgi: Sōdaina Kagayaku Hoshi no Danmaku?): By channelling cosmic rays directly into his Hokuto asterism, Hokuto Black King can gain a dramatic boost in energy, allowing him to unleash a vicious physical rush attack. In this state, Hokuto Black King's punches and swipes can be carried out at incredible speed, allowing him to easily overwhelm opponents in close-quarters combat.
Stellar Resplendence[]
- Mass-Conversion Outburst (質量変換の爆発 Shitsuryō Henkan no Bakuhatsu?): Hokuto Black King can consume a small amount of his own mass to produce considerable amounts of light and heat energy, which can then be released at once to repel opponents.
- Stellar Seance (恒星交霊会 Kōsei Kōrei-kai?): By focusing all of his energy, Hokuto Black King can communicate over immense distances. He used this ability to prematurely wake G-Rex to bring Aetherium under control and force the latter to cease their attack on the Earth.
- Deep Space Secret Technique: Seven Lives, Seven Stars (深宇宙奥義・七つの命、七つの星 Shin'uchū Ōgi: Nanatsu no Inochi, Nanatsu no Hoshi?): Hokuto Black King can fire a barrage of beams from each of the seven stars that comprise the four Hokuto asterisms on his body, said to be so destructive that even after death, the target's soul goes through seven full lifespans of torment and pain.
Trivia[]
- Several of Hokuto Black King's abilities, as well as the Hokuto Asterism on his chest, are intended as references to the iconic anime franchise Fist of the North Star.
- Black King is one of my favourite monsters, so it was only a matter of time before I implemented him somehow into the story of Universe -1.
- I was also partly inspired to make this variant of Black King after buying his spark doll figure after being convinced by the Wikizilla chat to do so. I don't regret it!
